                                Volunteer Vacations Proyect

Task 1: Definitions of some words in the diferents articles of "Volunteer Vacations"

1A: Definitions:
1) Hectic: Crazy, frenetic, is like a agitated activity of thing.
2) Schedule: Is a time table, your list of things that you must can or must do
3) Hanging: Put in the air something, suspend in the air a thing.
4) Dig: Excavate in the surface, take out the ground.
5) Kneeling: Stay bending over with the articulation of the leg (middle of the leg)
6) Hauling Up: To carry something with strange
7) Pottery Shards: Pieces ceramic, of something that is broken
8) Beads: A small atractive thing, that is popular used to decorate collars.
9) Lodging: To stay is a hotel or sothing else, where you can sleep.
10) Wares: A thing that you can do to get money and merchandise.
11) Allay: Alleviate or make that something decrease its percentage.
12) Impoverished: Be bad economically, be poor
13) Pounding: Hit, shake or crash something, or with siomething strong or a little less
14) Outfitter: A group of person or a person that give/sell you clothes

  • Activities: With 90 service trips annually, trips will line up your family with park services to maintain trails, clean up trash and restore woodland areas, such as cleaning trails along the Appalachia. Also you can go to a Independence Pass and Contintal Divide in Colorado, a Family Fun Trail Work program in Aspen, Colorado and a multigenerational ind river range restoration proyect in Wyoming.

  • Trip: Cross- Cultural Solutions
  • Destionation(s): Morocco, Peru, Costa Rica, Tanzania, China, and Brazil
  • Activities: Be volunteer in a orphanage, schools, and child centers. To teens of 15 to 17,  they can teach each artist how to market their wares, teach English and rebuild a community.

  • Trip: Global Citizens Network
  • Destionation(s): Kenya, Nepal, Guatemala and Minnesota
  • Activities: Build a medical clinic, constructing a roof for Tibetan refugees, weaving in Guatemala, and harvesting wild rice.

VI.

  • Trip: Habitat for Humanity
  • Destionation(s): Cameroon, Malaysia, Paraguay, and Romania
  • Activities: Combine travel with homebuilding and rebuild homes after natural disasters. Also participate in local cultural activities

VII.

  • Trip: Earthwatch
  • Destionation(s): Napal, Polynesian Kingdom of Tonga, British Columbia and South'Dakota
  • Activities: Study rhesus monkey feeding behavior, map coastal wetlands, help protect the Pacific grey whales, and excavate mammoths
Task 2: Imagine that two of your friends and family have decided to live a different experience and join one of these vacation programmes. Which one would you choose?
Some of the things that you may need to do are:
 A. Make a Budget
 B. Research plane tickets
 C. Decide the dates you want to leave and come back
 D. Buy luggage (list the items)
 E. Find out if you need immunization shots
 F. Decide if you will do any addtional traveling while you are there
 G. Plan for daily activities

2: I choose "Global Citizens Network", because in that vacation program, you visit another country, another culture, like Kenya, Nepal, Guatemala, Minnesota, etc...    . There you stay in a local family house; that is a good thing to know or see the situation of the people of that country. But the most important thing that you do is build things, that is also funny and make you feel good, because you are helping other.

7. Do you agree with with the slogan "independent touring made eazy". Why?
Answers:
A1. The people flexibility, when they travel. That means that they want to do what they want when they want it.
A2. The complications of independent travel, is that is too expensive, and you takes you a lot of time.
A3. If  you miss out a personal connections during the trip, you can lost to go to events, good restaurants, and local coming to city or region.
A4. Select Choices work, with the informacion of where you like to go, and stay off, and how many nights and day, you will stay in the hotel that you choice
A5. Select Choices offered you transport, premium hotels, baggage handling, tips from the hotel staff, welcome drinks, breakfast and full hosting service by an profecional tour director.
A6. The personal concierge provide commentaries, local insights, and inside  introductions, for me.
A7. I agree with the slogan " independent touing made eazy" because, you told the personal of Select Choices, what you like, and he organizes alll what you like, for, you; without  having to do that from yourself. Then the only thing that you have to do is have fun and enjoy it ;)-

Answers:
A1. The role that play is that you volunteering work for something                                      without pay.
A2. A volunteer vacations is when you go to work voluntarily in your vacations. There are two types of volunteer vacations:
I. When you go to nacional parks, to build and repair trails and paths
II. When you go contribute to the U.S Cultural History
A3. The americans like volunteer vacations, because, while they do things, they not feel that they dont do anything or something productive in their vacations.

1. What did futurist in the 1960s believe about the effect of technology?
2. What is a time famine? Why are americans experiencing this famine?
3. What are some Americans doing to take back their time?
Answers:
A1. That with the technology we can reduce the time, in our activities with machines, and this free time, that we get, can be a problem
A2. A time famine, means that we like more time, and americans, are a example, because, with their phones, they are connect with his work, while they are fun time in another part, worring and suffering.
A3. Americans choose to buy and have less things, to work less, and with this and not pay so much (Ej: Pay more TV Channels). With this they can have more time to have fun with their family and friends.

                                             Famous People: Homer Simpson

Homer Jay Simpson, better know only by Homer Simpson, is a famous character of the "TV World", because is the main character of the TV Show "The Simpsons".
Father of the famous family, whose members are Marge Bouvier, his wife, Lisa Simpson, his dauther, Bart Simpson, his son, and Maggie Simpson his little and last dauther; works in at the nuclear plant, of the millionaire Mr. Burns, who is the safety inspector.
But he is not a serious character, he do his work very bad, and he is not a good father, so when he go out of the nuclear plant, he go to his favorite place, to drink with his frinds Barney, Carl and Lenny, the "Moe's Tabern".
Also there is more members in his family, or only one member more, his Father, Abraham Jay Simpson, or as they call him Grandpa.
But there must be someone behinf this character, and this man is Matt Groening, his creator, and Dan Castellaneta, who give Homer, his voice.
Most of the people like this character because he entertained a lot of generation that past, because "The Simpsons" have 24 years in the air.

                                       Letter: Six ways to have a better year

16th March, 2013

Dear Farlos:

A long time ago past, while I wrote you, a letter; but this time I writting this, to talk about the article of "Six ways to have a better year", that, us you know, I all ready do some activities in the past, like walk to the school every day, run upstairs in the school, and things like that; also I ate a lot of fresh fruir and vegetables, and obviously I write letters to friends, like this time.
But that was in the past, a new year started, there is a lot of things to do in 2013, so I'm planning to use less the car, and use a bus, give a little money to a charity, etc...
Well, I have only one thing to add, do this things, to have a better year, do these six things.
